Model of the Linear ship "Le Rivoli"
The French linear 74-gun ship "Le Rivoli"
Was constructed in 1800 and within a year was captured by the English fleet in battle. The English made drawings of and carefully studied the design of Rivoli. Subsequently English ship building techniques adopted many of the French technologies used in Rivoli.
There is only one historical model of this vessel, which was constructed at the same time as the real vessel. It is housed in the Musee de la Marine in Paris and you can click here for comparative photos.
Well known Russian master Michael Bezverhny now builds the second ship "Rivoli" using plans sourced from the London National Archive.
The model is being built from Pear, Maple, Ebony and Boxwood and metal details are made from steel, brass, silver and copper.
The size of the case of the ship:
Length: 1100 mm
Height: 420 mm
Width: 380 mm
